What to Expect

Grenache is the main grape in many Rhone blends and most Cotes du Rhone and Chateaunuef-du-pape. It's a grape that yields soft, lightly colored yet full wines endowed with deep notes of strawberry and raspberry. This was the first Grenache that brought anything special to my nose and palate. I was moved with the full earthy fruity spicy smell, very complex. Made me just want to sit and ponder this wine, always a good sign. First taste was intense, spicy and mildly tannic at first, giving way to some earthy blackberry fruitiness. Enjoyed with some gouda, salami and crackers...and then later matched up well with some dark chocolate brownies. I need to get more of this!
