Turley Zinfandel St. Helena Hayne Vineyard 2001

Winemaker's Notes:

Turley 01 Hayne Zinfandel

97 Points - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate: The saturated purple-colored 2001 Zinfandel Hayne Vineyard (16.4% alcohol) boasts a glorious bouquet of flowers, blackberries, raspberries, and cherries backed up by enormous body, great purity, tremendous texture, and a finish that lasts for 40-45 seconds. Usually one of the stars of this impressive portfolio, it is seamlessly made with tremendous integration of acidity, tannin, and spice. This fruit-dominated Zinfandel should last for a decade, although it can be enjoyed in its youth. It is a profound effort.

The winery is a family operation helmed brother and sister duo Larry and Helen Turley, founded in 1993. Their prestigious wines are in constantly high demand, and their private wine club has a two-year waiting list. The wines are produced from several vineyards, with vines dating back to the 1800s. Each terroir lends its own character to the wines, and they are given separate labels according to location each vintage. The vineyards are located in Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Lodi, Howell Mountain and Contra Costa. Read less

Outstanding Wire, Not a very well known wine, but once you taset the well rounded body and mixture of flavors you will know why it was rated so high. Also in high demand and tough to get in some areas. One of the smokeyest Zin's I have tasted.

Turley 02 Hayne Zinfandel94-96 Points - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate: Year in and year out, Turley Cellars' most concentrated, inkiest purple-colored Zinfandel emerges from St. Helena's Hayne Vineyard. The 2002 Zinfandel Hayne Vineyard (475 cases; 16.5% alcohol) boasts superb texture, intensity, and power. Spectacular aromas of black raspberries, blackberries, and currants as well as floral notes are followed by a creamy textured, full-bodied, viscous red with remarkable delineation, acidity, and structure for its massive fruit and glycerin. This outrageous Zinfandel is as good as it gets. Drink it over the next decade.
