What to Expect

Zinfandel is considered America's own great indigenous grape, even though its origins lie on the Adriatic coast. Planted throughout California and the Pacific Northwest, Zinfandel is at its best in warm regions with cooler temperatures during harvest. The wines can range from off-dry Rosés, White Zinfandels, and light bistro styled wines, to big, rich powerful wines - even luscious wines for dessert bottling. The flavors range from plummy to raspberry, although deep blackberry fruit and brambly spice tones are most common.

Hot, acidic (in a good way) and surprisingly crisp for a Zin. Tight, but still young. Did have some nice notes of baked cherries and was rather mineral. Overall i really liked it, but its not your typical Cali zin.

Great food pairing wine. Served with sea bass, but also paired well with fried chicken!

Wine Advocate ReviewRated 88-90The 2006 Zinfandel Old Vines, which is a blend of old-vine parcels that are too small to be sold as single-vineyards, has a deeper ruby color, with hints of roasted herbs, pepper, nori (seaweed wrapper) intermixed with black cherry, raspberry, plum, and some spice. It is a fleshy wine with loads of fruit, medium to full body, and a supple texture.
