The winery is a family operation helmed brother and sister duo Larry and Helen Turley, founded in 1993. Their prestigious wines are in constantly high demand, and their private wine club has a two-year waiting list. The wines are produced from several vineyards, with vines dating back to the 1800s. Each terroir lends its own character to the wines, and they are given separate labels according to location each vintage. The vineyards are located in Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Lodi, Howell Mountain and Contra Costa.  Read less

I usually steer away from wines with cutesie names/labels. However, I had a low-risk opportunity to try at Vino Venue in SF (1 oz pours via automated tasting machines) and I've been hooked ever since. This is a big, chewy Zin with lots of dark berry flavors.

Groundshaking Zinfandel fruit awakens the nose with dried plum and deep cocoa. Brambley blackberry and rich cocoa balance out the bold tannins, leaving the mouth with a warm lasting finish.
