Turley Zinfandel Howell Mountain Rattlesnake Ridge 2011

Member Review by jkagel:

Scents of ripe red raspberries, oak, and alchohol. Raspberry, plum, and hints of dark chocolate and oak towards the finish. Well balanced with a slightly acidic finish

The winery is a family operation helmed brother and sister duo Larry and Helen Turley, founded in 1993. Their prestigious wines are in constantly high demand, and their private wine club has a two-year waiting list. The wines are produced from several vineyards, with vines dating back to the 1800s. Each terroir lends its own character to the wines, and they are given separate labels according to location each vintage. The vineyards are located in Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Lodi, Howell Mountain and Contra Costa.  Read less

A stunning effort, the 2003 Zinfandel Rattlesnake Ridge (a 350-case cuvee with 15% alcohol) comes from a vineyard adjacent to the Howell Mountain Black Sears Vineyard that the Turleys made so famous.
