Turley Zinfandel Howell Mountain Dragon 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

90-92 points Robert Parker: More structured with more obvious tannin, minerality, and graphite notes is the blue and black fruit-filled, dark purple-hued 2008 Zinfandel Dragon Vineyard. From Howell Mountain, it is one of the strongest Zinfandels produced by Turley. The wine exhibits lots of structure as well as considerable aging potential for a Zinfandel (10+ years). It offers loads of mineral-laced blue and black fruits combined with notions of new saddle leather, crushed rocks, flowers, and berries. (Dec 2009)

The winery is a family operation helmed brother and sister duo Larry and Helen Turley, founded in 1993. Their prestigious wines are in constantly high demand, and their private wine club has a two-year waiting list. The wines are produced from several vineyards, with vines dating back to the 1800s. Each terroir lends its own character to the wines, and they are given separate labels according to location each vintage. The vineyards are located in Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Lodi, Howell Mountain and Contra Costa.  Read less
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
