Turley Zinfandel Contra Costa County Salvador Vineyard 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

92 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): Bright ruby-red. Vibrant, high-toned aromas of musky blackberry and pepper, with a whiff of exotic fruits. Juicy and firm in the mouth, with pliant black cherry and black pepper flavors complicated by notes of mushroom and earth along with an exotic suggestion of apricot pit. Finishes firmly tannic and long. A rather brisk style-and at the low end of the alcohol range among these '07s, at a mere 15.5%. (May/Jun 2009)

The winery is a family operation helmed brother and sister duo Larry and Helen Turley, founded in 1993. Their prestigious wines are in constantly high demand, and their private wine club has a two-year waiting list. The wines are produced from several vineyards, with vines dating back to the 1800s. Each terroir lends its own character to the wines, and they are given separate labels according to location each vintage. The vineyards are located in Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Lodi, Howell Mountain and Contra Costa.  Read less
