Food Pairings for Turley Zinfandel California Juvenile
Oak and/or burned wood on the nose. Firm tanins. Liked it. 86 pts.
Well balanced with notes of black cherry and a bit of leather. Good mouth feel and a nice, but not lingering finish. A bit thin but well structured tannins made this a nice wine to go with a bit of good jazz.
This had a great floral and licorice nose.
Received this Bottle of 2006 Turley Zinfandel as a gift today from a dear friend that has like taste as I do. He has yet to go wrong, excellent nose, beautiful legs and a finish that is fully fruit forward. I would highly recomment this wine to others that enjoy a wet fruit forward finish. A pleasure to drink with a nice meal as well as by itself or with dark chocolate. Enjoy this wine, exceptional
Softer than most Turleys, with a slightly reedy quality that blends well with the pillow of fruit behind it.
Soft strawberry nose. Not zinny. Crisp (not sour), cabby? Well-integrated tannins. Huge. Earthy dustiness. Raisiny port on nose. Focused. Nutmeg on nose. Unfiltered.
External Reviews for Turley Zinfandel California Juvenile
The only bottled Zinfandel is the 2009 Juvenile, an outstanding effort made from the young vine lots. This pure Zinfandel offers abundant red and black, briery fruit, pepper and spice characteristics in its lush, soft, hedonistic personality. It is ideal for drinking in its first several years of life.
The 2002 Zinfandel Juvenile (a blend of the vineyardsrsquo; younger vines) could easily be confused with a big, full-throttle, Grenache-based Cotes du Rhone from Chateauneuf du Pape or Rasteau. A big, earthy, peppery, licorice, cherry liqueur, and spice-scented perfume soars from the glass of this deep ruby-colored, fleshy, fat offering. Sumptuous on the palate, with high levels of glycerin as well as a silky texture, itrsquo;s a steal at $20 a bottle. Enjoy it over the next 5ndash;6 years.
Fruit-driven aromas of raspberry, black cherry, chocolate and licorice. Sweet, supple and fruity, with exotic but fresh flavors. Finishes with sweet tannins and good length. Delicious zinfandel, and good value at the price.
The 2000 Zinfandel Juvenile is a composite blend of fruit from young vines from all the top Zinfandel vineyards Turley farms (i.e., Moore/Earthquake, Hayne, Duarte and Presenti). These young vine parcels are segregated and not blended with the old vine parcels used for the more substantial offerings produced under the single vineyard labels. There are 950 cases of the Juvenile, which sees about 20% new oak. A great value in Zinfandel, it offers abundant quantities of cassis and blackberry fruit, big, peppery, spicy nose, medium to full body, and loads of berry fruit offered in an extravagantly rich, grapy style. This fun wine should last for 4ndash;6 years.
Gutsy and a little rustic, this is full of youthful verve. Aromas of wild berry, smoky pepper and licorice, and zesty raspberry, plum and rosemary flavors that build to lively tannins. Drink now through 2010.
One of the great values from Turley, the 2003 Juvenile Zinfandel is an 800-case blend loaded with power (15.5% alcohol). A big, fruity, spicy, briery wine with low acidity, ripe fruit, and plenty of cherries and kirsch, this medium ruby-hued, sexy Zinfandel is ideal for drinking over the next 2ndash;3 years.
Oh lagrave; lagrave;! Turley once again earns its reputation as one of the best California Zins. Simply irresistible! Not a glass of black goo like some port-like styles, this is fresh, vibrant and actually like some rich West Coast Pinot Noirs in color. At first, the nose is alive with crushed black cherries and a hint of black licorice, but with airing the aromas become complex with Asian spices, cantaloupe and strawberries. Fine, integrated tannins and lip-smacking acidity lift the velvety fruit and keep this 15.9% alcohol red seemingly fresh and pure. Turleyrsquo;s first level Zin, Juvenile is a steal!
A touch floral on the nose, it brings a slightly herbal tone to an otherwise berry-packed Zin. Medium-bodied, it shows flavors of black currant, dark berry, sweet spices and a tinge of minerals on the finish. Focused and ready-to-go, this is sure to please.
