The winery is a family operation helmed brother and sister duo Larry and Helen Turley, founded in 1993. Their prestigious wines are in constantly high demand, and their private wine club has a two-year waiting list. The wines are produced from several vineyards, with vines dating back to the 1800s. Each terroir lends its own character to the wines, and they are given separate labels according to location each vintage. The vineyards are located in Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Lodi, Howell Mountain and Contra Costa.  Read less

94 points - Wine Advocate: The saturated purple-colored 2001 Petite Syrah Estate (14.6% alcohol) boasts a fabulous perfume of black fruits, graphite, spice, and a hint of flowers. Extremely tannic, full-bodied, and massive, with excruciating levels of extract, this 2001 needs 5-8 years of cellaring; it should keep for two decades or more.

2001 was one of Napa's many excellent vintages. A lengthy growing season, cool night and warm (not to hot) days, all well tended grapes maintained a splendid balance of acidity to fruit. This Petite Sirah is firm and tannic, filled with dense balck fruit, woody spices and dark earth. 10 years young, it may be rather tight when first opened, so we recommend decanting. One of only 325 cases released.
