Turley Wine Cellars Fredericks Vineyard Zinfandel 2014

Winemaker's Notes:

92 Points, Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate: "From another Sonoma site, the 2014 Zinfandel Fredericks Vineyard (15.8% alcohol) is juicy, lush and full of fruit, with a dark ruby/purple color. It lacks the complexity of the Bedrock, but is still beautifully rich, offering loads of blackberry and black cherry fruit, full body and no hard edges, although it has enough acidity and tannin to give it structure and focus. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. This hillside vineyard was planted in 1937." 4/16 90-93 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous: "The 2014 Zinfandel Fredericks Vineyard is one of the least expressive wines in this range, much of that the signature of this rocky, hillside site. Bright acidity and veins of underlying tannin give the wine much of its personality. Unlike most of the 2014s, the Fredericks is going to need time. Today, the incisive mountain tannins are quite prominent." 10/15

The winery is a family operation helmed brother and sister duo Larry and Helen Turley, founded in 1993. Their prestigious wines are in constantly high demand, and their private wine club has a two-year waiting list. The wines are produced from several vineyards, with vines dating back to the 1800s. Each terroir lends its own character to the wines, and they are given separate labels according to location each vintage. The vineyards are located in Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Lodi, Howell Mountain and Contra Costa.  Read less
