Turley the White Coat San Luis Obispo County 2007

Member Review by Tyler Worth:

90 points. White nectarine and delicate white floral tones introduce the aroma. This softness is countered by a firm backbone of deep, crisp minerality. This wine’s nose is complex and full, with interesting combinations of components lime crushed wet stone and light scents of coconut, and an almost steely quality with a faint hint of lime. It’s very interesting, tightly knit, and somewhat of a challenge to define. The palate is delicate, crisp, and fresh at once. A white floral tone introduces the wine, with fresh peach and a faint hint of bubblegum following right afterward. Vanilla custard and something spicy and baked, almost like pumpkin pie, appear on the mid palate, and mingle with more floral tones, which last into the finish. This is a wonderfully complex, evolving, and incredibly interesting wine. The winery is a family operation helmed brother and sister duo Larry and Helen Turley, founded in 1993. Their prestigious wines are in constantly high demand, and their private wine club has a two-year waiting list. The wines are produced from several vineyards, with vines dating back to the 1800s. Each terroir lends its own character to the wines, and they are given separate labels according to location each vintage. The vineyards are located in Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Lodi, Howell Mountain and Contra Costa.  Read less
