Turley Rattlesnake Zin ! 2002

Winemaker's Notes:

Turley 02 Rattlesnake Zin

90-93 Points - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate: The high altitude mountain 2002 Zinfandel Rattlesnake Acres, a ten-acre vineyard with relatively tight spacing for Zinfandel (3 feet by 6 feet). Blackberry and blueberry, cool mountain aromas emerge from this offering, which reveals more austerity and only a medium-bodied palate compared to its siblings. Nevertheless, there is fine ripeness, excellent purity, and a claret-like delicacy and focus to this effort (15.5%).

The winery is a family operation helmed brother and sister duo Larry and Helen Turley, founded in 1993. Their prestigious wines are in constantly high demand, and their private wine club has a two-year waiting list. The wines are produced from several vineyards, with vines dating back to the 1800s. Each terroir lends its own character to the wines, and they are given separate labels according to location each vintage. The vineyards are located in Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Lodi, Howell Mountain and Contra Costa. Read less
