Turley Petite Sirah Napa Valley Rattlesnake Acres 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

91-93 Points - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate Although pinched with screeching tannins, the backward, unevolved 2005 Petite Syrah Rattlesnake Ridge will repay those who have the foresight to lay it away for 10-15 years. It is loaded with potential, but is nearly impenetrable at present.

The winery is a family operation helmed brother and sister duo Larry and Helen Turley, founded in 1993. Their prestigious wines are in constantly high demand, and their private wine club has a two-year waiting list. The wines are produced from several vineyards, with vines dating back to the 1800s. Each terroir lends its own character to the wines, and they are given separate labels according to location each vintage. The vineyards are located in Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Lodi, Howell Mountain and Contra Costa. Read less

A red grape variety found in both North and South America that has definitely become an important varietal in warm regions within California. The grapes normally produce wines with solid tannins and good color, which make Petite Sirah an excellent blending partner. On its own, Petite Sirah is well liked as a dark, well-balanced, sturdy, red wine of interesting flavor.
