Turley Petite Sirah Napa Valley Estate Vineyard 2001

External Review by Shop Wine Direct:

Wine Advocate ReviewThe inky blue/purple-colored 2001 Petite Syrah Rattlesnake Acres (a mere 13.2% alcohol) reveals a promising nose of licorice, blackberries, minerals, and flowers. This stacked and packed, full-bodied, enormously endowed effort is relatively accessible for Petite Sirah, but ideally should have 5-6 more years of cellaring. It will keep for two decades.

The winery is a family operation helmed brother and sister duo Larry and Helen Turley, founded in 1993. Their prestigious wines are in constantly high demand, and their private wine club has a two-year waiting list. The wines are produced from several vineyards, with vines dating back to the 1800s. Each terroir lends its own character to the wines, and they are given separate labels according to location each vintage. The vineyards are located in Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Lodi, Howell Mountain and Contra Costa.  Read less
