The winery is a family operation helmed brother and sister duo Larry and Helen Turley, founded in 1993. Their prestigious wines are in constantly high demand, and their private wine club has a two-year waiting list. The wines are produced from several vineyards, with vines dating back to the 1800s. Each terroir lends its own character to the wines, and they are given separate labels according to location each vintage. The vineyards are located in Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Lodi, Howell Mountain and Contra Costa.  Read less

"Rich, exotic, powerful" are all typical descriptions for Turley wines and this petite sirah certainly fits the description, benefiting from a long warm summer to produce a wine that is rather uncivilized. The historic Aida vineyard is located within the undulating hills in Napa Vally, yielding wines that preserve some acidity, dense but not overly tannic. the 1997 required cellaring 10-15 years, so it is ready to drink now, and will become more characterful in the cellar for quite a few more years.

I do not believe I have ever tasted a more concentrated, essence-like wine than Turley's 1997 Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard. Made from 55-year old vines that yielded only 9.8 tons of fruit for five acres, this opaque black-colored wine is the biggest, ... Robert Parker. A Petite Sirah wine from California in USA. 1997 Turley Cellars Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard 750ml
