Turley 'Juvenile' Zinfandel 2015

Winemaker's Notes:

Antonio Galloni, Vinous: "Turley's 2015 Zinfandel Juvenile is pretty soft in this vintage, with generous red fruit, sweet tobacco, cedar and mint. Sweet floral notes add lift on the finish. Drink this attractive, mid-weight Zinfandel over the next few years." 12/16 Turley Wine Cellars: “Though the vast majority of our wines are single vineyard designates, Juvenile is actually composed of a variety of young vines that have been replanted in several of our old vine sites. We tag the vine when we replant it so as not to mix the brand new vine with its much older neighbors, then pick these young vines separately and make a distinct wine. The vines that make up Juvenile range in age from about 6-25 years, and we pull from 15 of our vineyards across California, including Hayne, Ueberroth, Pesenti, Salvador, and Vineyard 101.”

The winery is a family operation helmed brother and sister duo Larry and Helen Turley, founded in 1993. Their prestigious wines are in constantly high demand, and their private wine club has a two-year waiting list. The wines are produced from several vineyards, with vines dating back to the 1800s. Each terroir lends its own character to the wines, and they are given separate labels according to location each vintage. The vineyards are located in Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Lodi, Howell Mountain and Contra Costa.  Read less
