Turley Hayne Petite Syrah 2011
"The 2011 Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard is soft, seamless and pure. Sweet red berries, raspberry jam, flowers and anise are all woven together in a wine that shows the more supple, round style of Petite Syrah. Today, the Hayne comes across as a wine that will drink well pretty much upon release...90-92" WA 12/12
Popped and poured, dark purple coated the glass in 1 swirl and stayed there, nose of leather and earth with fruit trying to push through but unsuccessfully. Decanted 1 hour and re-poured. Opened up nicely and the jammy fruit pushed forward. Very pleasing blackberry and cherry flavors with a bit of spice. Just a touch of heat on the backside and the finish was silky smooth but not long. Back in the bottle and into the fridge overnite. Day 2, it's getting better. Poured into the decanter again and the aroma of red fruit filled the kitchen. Tannins more present today with a longer finish. Hope I can wait for tomorrow. This is an awesome Petite.

Aromas of blueberry, licorice and bitter chocolate are a bit stunted by the bottling. Juicy, primary and tight, offering black fruit, bitter chocolate and espresso flavors framed by firm minerality. There’s a creaminess lurking today but currently this wine is dominated by its sappy lift. Finishes very long and sweet, with noble tannins. This is carrying a relatively low 3.5 pH and appears to be built for a slow evolution in bottle.

...Blackberry, cassis, bitter chocolate and espresso on the nose. Wonderfully dense, full and rich on the palate; an essence of cassis and black cherry fruit. Offers superb sweetness and breadth. Finishes very long and sweet, with chewy, ripe tannins... Stephen Tanzer's IWC. A Petite Sirah wine from California in USA. 2002 Turley Cellars Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard 750ml
