Turley Central Coast Moore Earthquake Zinfandel 2002

Winemaker's Notes:

Zinfandel: "This Bordeaux-like, rich, inky/purple-colored effort (500 cases; 16.2% alcohol) boasts a voluptuous texture, huge body, and spectacular characteristics of blackberry liqueur, creme de cassis, scorched earth, violets, and a hint of pepper. Complex and rich, this full-throttle Zin pushes the quality of this varietal to an almost surreal level." RP

The winery is a family operation helmed brother and sister duo Larry and Helen Turley, founded in 1993. Their prestigious wines are in constantly high demand, and their private wine club has a two-year waiting list. The wines are produced from several vineyards, with vines dating back to the 1800s. Each terroir lends its own character to the wines, and they are given separate labels according to location each vintage. The vineyards are located in Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Lodi, Howell Mountain and Contra Costa.  Read less
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Turley 02 Moore Earthquake Zin95-97 Points - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate: I was blown away by the 2002 Zinfandel Moore (Earthquake) Vineyard. This Bordeaux-like, rich, inky/purple-colored effort (500 cases; 16.2% alcohol) boasts a voluptuous texture, huge body, and spectacular characteristics of blackberry liqueur, creme de cassis, scorched earth, violets, and a hint of pepper. Complex and rich, this full-throttle Zin pushes the quality of this varietal to an almost surreal level. This is one of the coolest sites the Turleys farm, and many vintages are not harvested until November ... amazing!
