Tudor Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

"Very pretty yet focused with elegant aromas of black cherries, cloves and cinnamon spice. Just when you think it is delicate, the finish proves you wrong with its ever lasting length." - Alpana Singh

In an increasingly mechanized world, there are still a few handcrafted products that stand out. Fine wine is one of them. At Tudor Wines, we select fruit from family-owned vineyards and transform it into wine using traditional techniques. These include small fermentations mixed by hand and aging in French barrels. The resulting wine has a purity of expression that cannot be duplicated on a larger scale. The 2000 Tudor Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir was the inaugural release from Tudor Wines. By working closely with our family growers and winemaking staff, we made sure that low yields combined with maximum grape maturity produced wine with optimal flavor profiles - a balance of ripeness, acidity, and tannins. - Dan and Christian Tudor Read less
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

90 points Wine Spectator - Spice, fresh earth, dried berry and plum fruit is tight, full-bodied, complex and focused. Trim and balanced, ending with minerally tannins. Drink now through 2014. 244 cases made. If SLH is Skipper then the Sarmento is definitely Barbie; much flashier, a better wardrobe and more toys. Silky, supple mouthfeel, flavor reminds me of cherries jubilees with a healthy dose of cinnamon and clove spice. Alpana Singh -- Master Sommelier 91 points Wine Enthusiast "Beautiful and immediately appealing, showing cool-climate coastal acidity and the long hangtime flavors this Central Coast appellation encourages. Dry and silky but full-bodied, the jammy black cherry, currant, tangerine, mocha and spice flavors are wrapped into firm tannins. Best now with decanting, and through 2010. S.H.
