Tudal Family Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Old Vine 2007

Member Review by aronowm2:

Very light and thin almost pinot-like. Perhaps it's too young to drink. I don't know but I would never guess in a million years that this was a cali cab.

Rating: 88/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the August 2010 issue. Fixed on fairly direct, ripe-currant fruit right from the start and very comfortably on the varietal track from beginning to end, this medium-deep, well-balanced young Cabernet is a wine that is still waiting to charm. It offers glimpses of layering but wants time in the cellar, and its grippy last-minute tannins confirm the clear need for age.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Cellar for future drinking. Wine will improve with bottle aging.

Rating: 85/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the August 2010 issue. Never quite sure of itself as far as keen Cabernet character is concerned, and a bit uneven in balance with acidity coming on after a slightly rounded beginning, this directionless wine suggests elements both ripe and green at the same time, and it gets summarily cut off at the finish without ever having found a varietal voice.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Further bottle aging can improve this wine.
