($85; a blend of 60% cabernet sauvignon, 20% merlot, 15% cabernet franc, and 5% petit verdot) Saturated dark ruby. An initial note of reduction dissipates with aeration to reveal pure blackberry, smoky plum and mocha aromas with enticing mineral lift and a hint of green bell pepper. Sweet and fat in the mouth, the vibrant acids helping to keep the rich, tarry berry flavors in focus. Finishes pure and long, with supple tannins and impressive density. One of the best Giustos I remember at a similar stage of development: perhaps only the '01 was superior, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Stunning nose of rose petal, berries, sandalwood and licorice. Full-bodied, with ripe, rich tannins and a long, long finish. All there, and very exciting. 60 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 20 percent Merlot, 15 percent Cabernet Franc and 5 percent Petit Verdot. Best after 2007. 2,300 cases made. -JS, Wine Spectator
