Truchard Pinot Noir Carneros 2006
Truchard Vineyards is a small, family-owned winery in the Carneros region of Napa Valley. Proprietors Tony and Jo Ann Truchard have managed a successful vineyard and grown exceptional grapes for over 30 years. Through their hard work and devotion to this unique property, they helped pioneer grape growing in the Carneros. In 1989, the Truchards established a winery and began producing wines using only their estate-grown fruit.

... this Pinot Noir is a mix of old world class meets new world charisma - the nose is all cabbage and barnyard smells over berry aromas and a little cheese. The flavors aren't so barnyard-y! There are bright berry flavors and light spice and the finish is incredible, a little metallic and almost oily as it grips your tongue! As the wine opens up, the berries take over and the finish is choke cherry and pomegranate. A tale of two worlds told in the glass - try it today!
Not sideways. . . . This wine will make you want to lie on the beach beneath the stars and dream. I am with Erica on this one - X Winery has worlds colliding with their 2006 Pinot. The nose is totally vegetal; cabbage mixed with barnyard and hay, even a little Stilton. The palate on the other hand is a mix of bright plums and cherries. The finish is nice and spicy! I do think this wine would benefit from a little more time in the bottle, so if you are thinking ahead, get more than one!!
