Trinity Hill Hawkes Bay Chardonnay 2013

Winemaker's Notes:

*WMA Top 100 2015* Situated on the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand. Trinity Hill is a partnership between John Hancock, Robert and Robyn Wilson (owners of London’s Bleeding Heart and The Don restaurants) and Aucklanders Trevor and Hanne Janes. Three founding partners, hence the name “Trinity Hill”. Highly regarded for his all round abilities in both the cellar and vineyard, John Hancock has extensive experience in Australia, France and New Zealand. Typically fresh aromatics of quality Hawkes Bay Chardonnay include citrus, white flowers and stone fruit. These are complemented on the palate by a creamy richness from lees ageing, combined with roast hazelnut, almond and hints of gunflint. The wine displays delicacy but richness.

Editorial Reviews for Trinity Hill Hawkes Bay Chardonnay

Vintage: 2010 02/28/2012

This opens with a big creme brulée nose that is noticeably oaky, with notes of vanillin, wood spice, dried ginger and creamy pineapple. On entry this is rather refined and elegant with a sense of delicacy. Though young, this offers good clarity of flavor with wood spice, barely ripe pineapple, apple and a touch of nectarine fruit. The oak is fairly well integrated and fades nicely on the finish, which shows a touch of fig with a hint of stony minerality. 88pts
