Trinitas Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2007
Editorial Reviews for Trinitas Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
Intense yet fine with plenty of oak but strong black currant, tomato leaf , licorice, vanilla and mint tones. Lovely mouthfeel, rigid with a touch of woody sweetness and wonderfully pure fruit. The tannins are modest and a touch stiff but in proportion and well balanced allowing the pure fruit tones to take center stage. This is not a powerhouse but a well balanced, well focused bottle of cab that recalls some of the classic wines of the 80’s and shows very little sign of the formidable 14.9% alcohol. 93pts.
Funky, earthy nose. Lots of wood and red fruit. Dry with fine tannin. Rich and red-driven. Nice. Dusty texture. 88 pts 9/15/13 at Trinitas
Super clean wine, very smooth from start to spicy, warming finish. Full of baking spices and bright red fruit.
Grand bright dusty cherry nose. A big complex fruit bomb but without the characteristic overoaking and reckless spicy finish - more of a fruit precision airstrike. Full bodied with perfectly ripe fruit and a long spiced - not spicy - finish with medium sized but powerful tannins.

Trinitas' Cab vineyards are in the heart of Napa Valley in the Oakville AVA. It's hard to say that one particular area of Napa truly produces the best Cabernet, but it's also hard to find someplace that has more claim to that title than Oakville. In this wine from the historic 2007 vintage, they added other varietals including a touch of Petite Sirah. The blend is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon (100% Oakville), 8% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petite Sirah and 1% Malbec. The wine was fermented in small open top tanks, punched down four times per day and then barrel aged 18 months in 80% new French oak. It's deep and concentrated but supple and rich as the Oakville pedigree and the '07 vintage each make their mark. Flavors of chocolate, espresso, and plum, blackberries, cherries and cocoa fill your moth and linger long on the finish. Extremely limted!
The complex nose starts with light notes of toast and vanilla. As the wine opens, the aromatics evolve into dried cherries, cedar and a hint of green olive. The palate has an amazingly floral entry which explodes into black fruit on the mid-palate. The finish is elegant and lengthy. This Napa Valley Cabernet spent 27 months in 60% New French oak.
