Trinchero Napa Valley Meritage 2007
While most of our wines are 100% varietal, our Meritage is a proprietary blend of red Bordeaux grapes. This is mostly Cabernet (63%) but also incorporates Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Merlot to add texture to the wine. The juicy flavors make this Meritage approachable now, but it should continue to improve over the next decade. Deep, dark, open and lush with leather, vanilla, anise and violets.
'The Trincher Napa Valley winery is a work of art unto itself- -the perfect place to craft our new luxury wines. As an architect, this Project has been especially meaningful to me. No detail was overlooked and we worked tirelessly to not only malce this a great functioning winery, but to also make it a place for friends and family to gather'
RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
Easy to tell that this is a "heavy CS" blend. You can almost smell CS from across the room. Very fruity on the tip of the tongue--cherries an berries. A lot more oomph as it passes over the rest of the palate--some detectable vanilla flavor, some tobacco, tons of tannin. A bit hot on the back of the throat. A pretty robust wine. US$39.99 at Costco in 2010.

The grapes for Trinchero’s Napa Valley wines are sourced from their over 200 acres of estate vineyards in prime Napa Valley appellations, including St. Helena, Mount Veeder, Rutherford and Atlas Peak. This Meritage is a blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon (81%) with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petite Verdot. Winemaker Mario Monticelli, whose worked along side Philippe Melka producing some of Napa’s most famous cult wines, says this is his “favorite wine to make”. Winner of a Double Gold Medal in The San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, this wine is painstakingly hand crafted. All the grapes are subjected to a double triage so no stems or inferior fruit ever make it into the fermenters. The wines are barrel aged separately for 16 months in 75% new French oak. Then Mario builds the blend piece by piece for a wine with layers and layers of complex aromas and flavors. It shows black currant, licorice, plums, cocoa and earthy cedar and mineral nuances in a supple texture that shows beautifully approachable. For a Napa Valley estate wine of this quality it's an incredible value. Very Limited. View the complete Trinchero 2007 Meritage, Napa Valley review in Wine Enthusiast Magazine's Buying Guide
