“This is my favorite wine to make because I get to choose from all our estates. Cabernet is the backbone, Merlot contributes to the mid-palate and the aromatics, Petit Verdot adds color and aromatics and Cabernet Franc elongates the finish. It starts with rich blackberry and huckleberry aromas with hints of mocha and cedar. Concentrated flavors of caramelized black cherry and black currant lead into an opulent and silky mouthfeel with a lingering finish." -Winery

Winemaker's notes:While most of our wines are 100% varietal, our Meritage is a proprietary blend of red Bordeaux grapes: Cabernet (63%) but also incorporates Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Merlot to add texture to the wine. The juicy flavors make this Meritage approachable now, but it should continue to improve over the next decade. Deep, dark, open and lush with leather, vanilla, anise and violets.
