Drinking window: Drink between 2011 and 2015 (based on 2 user opinions) Community Tasting Notes (average 88.6 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 19 notes) - Tasted by rocknroller on 3/10/2012 & rated 87 points: Bird Wines of Alcatraz or The Bird Brain Wine & Dine (Judith's House): Very dark red color. Decanted for 45 minutes. Nose shows cassis, lots of wood, pepper, a little green, cinnamon. The palate is very dry grippy tannins, a bit stemmy, black fruits, woody, spicy, tart. This was disappointing. May benefit from a significant decant or some additional cellar time, but I am am concerned though about the green edges and this may not come around. (1366 views) Tasted by Sreter@msn.com on 11/5/2011 & rated 84 points: A little too intense. Needed to open up. Rich flavors. (2152 views) Tasted by ckleiman on 10/9/2011 & rated 88 points: Not much for nose. Light to medium body. Nothing remarkable on palate. Impressive finish. Paid $18 on clearance from $37 (2136 views) Tasted by Edzo on 3/6/2011 & rated 91 points: Nice wine with complexity and balance. Nice dark fruit, freshly plowed earth. It posseses a sense of weight, yet its medium finish with floral notes and dusty tannins also give it nice freshness. (2802 views) Tasted by wineglas on 11/11/2010 & rated 92 points: 2007 Trinchero Estate Bottled Chicken Ranch Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford $25.85 This is one of the best $25 Napa cabs I have sampled in a while, with cherry, oak, dust, earth, and plum. It's a complex wine, so decant this two hours to really allow it to open up. Should cellar for five plus years, so grab a few for next year. 92 points (3452 views) Tasted by blgilbey on 4/6/2010 & rated 88 points: Strong notes of dark fruit and earth- maybe too much so on the first night. But much more balanced on the second night (4241 views) Tasted by wineglas on 3/23/2010 & rated 92 points: Trinchero Single Vineyard Cabs; 3/20/2010-3/25/2010 (Chateau Glas): Medium purple. Nose of cherry, dust, earth, oak and plum. On the palate dust, spices, floral, cherry and vanilla. Medium and concentrated finish. This is an amazing wine for the price point of $25. This wine review is on day 2. (4607 views) Tasted by wineglas on 2/23/2010 & rated 92 points: Minneapolis Food & Wine Show Grand Tasting; 2/22/2010-2/23/2010 (Minneapolis Convention Center): Dark wine with aromas of dust, a little barrel funk, oak and cherry. On the palate the wine coats the mouth with cherry, plum, dust, and oak. Medium and concentrated finish. Drinking well and tannins are medium. I see this wine improving in a few years but showing well today. (4968 views) Tasted by mulligan452 on 1/25/2010 & rated 87 points: Single-vineyard Cab. Black cherry & vanilla. Rich and flavourful, complex & well balanced. Very good to excellent (87.5).

Rating: 84/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the August 2010 issue. While most of its cellarmates are not sparing in tannins, this rigid, mouth-drying working is the most rough-cut of the bunch. While its tannins may be high, they are made all the more obvious by a singular lack of balancing fruit, and, while it should last for a very long time, we simply do not see the point.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Cellar for future drinking. Wine will improve with bottle aging.
