Vintage: 2000 04/01/2009

56g sugar - and the nose confirms this. However, in the mouth the wine barely came off as anywhere near that sweet. A beautiful balance of acidity, minerality and the sugar leads to a wine that tasted like it had just half that sugar. Its age meant that much of the gewurtz character had tempered. There were still aromas of pot pourri, candied fruits and violets, but really at this stage this is a wine of balance. Very nice Served with warm apple strudel, cheddar, and calvados cream

Sourced from Grand Cru vineyards this reserve level Geewurz is always rich and distinctive. Steve Tanzer in his International Wine Cellar Publication wrote "Scented aromas of smoked meat, clove and flowers. Sweet and ripe but slightly aggressive. A big, oily expression of Gewurztraminer with strong ginger and clove spice character." Very Limited!
