Trentadue Winery Red Blend Sonoma County Old Patch Red 2005
Wine Tasting Notes The Old Patch is a serious everyday wine with soft palate and loads of flavors. The predominance of Zin in the blend brings in jammy, peppery, black cherry and strawberry aromas with spicy herbal nuances. Further aeration reveals deeper and more complex layers of plums, brown sugar, graphite and earthy, dusty undertones. The mouth feel reveals no hard edges, with a juicy middle but shows a solid tannin core suggesting a good aging potential.
A very rich blend - sweet fruity notes and some delicate florals are counterbalanced by a thick meaty finish (from the Zin)
A nice wine for the price. Nothing fancy, but solid and food-friendly.
Interesting blend of 70% Zinfandel, 20% Petite Syrah, 5.5% Carignane and 4.5% Syrah. Heavy duty on the fruit, very plummy and jammy with a hint of spice. Great body and pleasant overall. Very good value.
A bit on the sweet side. Fine concentration and tannins, and super juicy. Bargain for sure, but wish it was a bit drier.
Excellent every day wine!
This is a great bottle of wine.Very drinkable. It goes down too easy for your own good. Big luscious mouth feel of jammy berries, with a nice addition of spice and pepper that rounds out with chocolate. Best part is that it is only $8.99 a bottle at Cost Plus right now. CP.

Hearty and appealingly rustic, with aromas and flavors of plum, wild berry, licorice and bitter-sweet chocolate. The tannins are a bit chewy, but enjoy this with a burger or barbecued ribs. Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Carignane. Drink now through 2010.
A juiced up Cotes du Rhone-styled effort from California's North Coast, the 2002 Old Patch Red (a field blend of Zinfandel, Carignan, Petite Sirah, and miscellaneous varietals) boasts a deep ruby/plum/purple color along with a big, hedonistic aromatic profile consisting of pepper, black fruits, and forest floor. Ripe, fruit-driven, full-bodied flavors reveal no hard edges. Enjoy this excellent value over the next 2-3 years.
Trentadue's Old Patch Red is consistently one of California's finest wine bargains, and their screw cap-finished 2004 (76% Zinfandel, 16% Petite Sirah, and 8% Carignane) is reminiscent of a French Cotes du Rhone. An exuberant, peppery, spicy nose offering up scents of black currants, plums, and cherries is followed by sweet, medium-bodied flavors, a plush texture, and gorgeous purity. The result is an alluring, value-priced wine that can be enjoyed over the next 2-3 years. The good news is that there 7,000 cases of this beauty.
This is the wine that has made the Trentadue winery famous. Well, famous in an obscure sort of way- just like the blend. Mixing French and Italian grapes with good old American varieties (such as Zinfandel and Petite Sirah), the result is a big, burly, flavorful red. Produced from vines well over 100 years old, this wine, not surprisingly, improves with age.
Trentadue continues to produce some excellent values, none better than their field blend of mixed varietals called Old Patch Red. The 2005 represents a California version of a French Cotes du Rhone. Aromas of strawberries, cherries, earth, pepper, herbs, and spice emanate from this medium-bodied, straightforward, satisfying red wine. Consume it over the next 1-2 years.
