What to Expect

Zinfandel is considered America's own great indigenous grape, even though its origins lie on the Adriatic coast. Planted throughout California and the Pacific Northwest, Zinfandel is at its best in warm regions with cooler temperatures during harvest. The wines can range from off-dry Rosés, White Zinfandels, and light bistro styled wines, to big, rich powerful wines - even luscious wines for dessert bottling. The flavors range from plummy to raspberry, although deep blackberry fruit and brambly spice tones are most common.

A bit on the sweet side. Fine concentration and tannins, and super juicy. Bargain for sure, but wish it was a bit drier.

Wine Tasting NotesThe Old Patch is a serious everyday wine with soft palate and loads of flavors. The predominance of Zin in the blend brings in jammy, peppery, black cherry and strawberry aromas with spicy herbal nuances. Further aeration reveals deeper and more complex layers of plums, brown sugar, graphite and earthy, dusty undertones. The mouth feel reveals no hard edges, with a juicy middle but shows a solid tannin core suggesting a good aging potential.

Gold-West Coast Wine Competition

This wine is an example of the classic turn-of-the-century Italian-American field blend. Always ripe, jammy, soft, and lush, with hints of tar and coffee. Our proprietary blend includes petite sirah, zinfandel, and carignane. Gorgeous richness, chewy, and luscious, this is a wine that goes well with many dishes, from Chilean Sea Bass with salsa to a barbequed burger.

A very rich blend - sweet fruity notes and some delicate florals are counterbalanced by a thick meaty finish (from the Zin)

A nice wine for the price. Nothing fancy, but solid and food-friendly.

Bright ruby-red color, bouquet of sweet, ripe cherries, candied raspberries, lavender and herbs de Provence. Ripe black plums, dusty minerals, fresh loam and vanilla on the palate. The finish is juicy and fruity, and exhibits great clarity of flavor.
