Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

I must admit that I am trying this wine while on malbec kick. That said I like this wine. Dark fruit, coco and earthiness on the nose. Plum, minty and earthiness, smooth tannins and a long finish. Yummy wine, great with a skirt steak.

eh. it's ok. not great, not bad... but, i keep reaching back for the glass. Typical inexpensive zin, though more translucent than most... Raspberry/cherry jam with a little wood on the finish. Moderate tannins, definitely drinking hot and out of balance--too much alcohol. somewhat one note. would drink again, but probably not purchase again... My rating: 74/100 For the money: 80/100

Elegant and refined, with a plush underpinning to the luscious raspberry, blackberry and black plum fruit, shaded with subtle hints of peppermint and a whiff of char as the finish sails on smoothly.

The 2006 I Sodi di San Niccolo is fabulous. Beautifully delineated aromatics meld into a breathtaking array of dark fruit, crushed rocks, smoke, tar, minerals and flowers in this totally thrilling Tuscan red. Showing the usual balance and harmony of this bottling, which is made from the five Bordeaux varieties, the '06 nonetheless lacks a bit of the richness of other vintages. Distinctly spicy, with cinnamon and white pepper overtones to the focused red berry and cherry fruit, persisting on the expressive finish and lingering beautifully. Winemaker's Notes:

The colour is a deep inky red. There is good concentration of violets on the nose with some lifted perfume from the Petit Verdot. The palate is rich, ripe and medium to full bodied. The wine is bursting with flavours of blackcurrant, plums and christmas pudding and shows great balance with the supporting spicy oak adding complexity and character. The tannins are chewy and complement the mouthfilling flavour you get when you taste the wine. The wine has great vibrancy and poise which are evident on the long seamless finish.

Tasting Notes:

Juicy and mouth-filling, this wine bursts with bright raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and café au lait. Big, chewy tannins surround a complex core of black fruit and hints of tasty oak that last throughout a long finish.
