Enjoyed with our Italian meal. Earthy, a hint of smokiness, a nice roundness. More body than we are used to in our Chiantis. Liked the cherry notes.

PRODUCTION AREA: Surroundings of Manduria, province of Taranto, from winery-managed vineyards. GRAPES: Primitivo TRAINING METHOD: Espailer - spurred cordon at 2,20 x 0,80 m equal to 5,300 vines per hectare, yielding 2 kg each, corresponding to approximately 11,000 kg of grapes per hectare. HARVEST: Harvest takes place at full maturity in September and is performed mechanically. VINIFICATION AND AGEING: Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature controlled stainless - steel tanks, favouring a prolonged contact of the grape skins with the must. Malolactic fermentation occurs in the month of November, right after the alcoholic fermentation. Ageing takes places at first in stainless - steel tanks, then for at least three months in cement vats and finally for at least another three months in the bottle.
