Food Pairings for Treana White
Sampled this wine at a wine tasting at the Ridge Tahoe in Stateline, NV. This one divided the wine tasters, some of them thinking it odd or too sweet and the others liking it a lot. I fell in with the latter. I am far from a wine connoisseur but I've never had a wine quite like this. I found it intriguing. The wine was very smooth yet still complex both in taste and bouquet. In fact, I wasn't sure how to pair this wine, but I had the good fortune of sitting next to some independent wine makers and they suggested pork dishes. I'll have to try that.

Had this with the Christmas ham. Due to the glaze and the saltiness it seemed to take on a little bite but by it self before and after dinner it was fruity and delicious. I am going to they it again with some non fatty fish later. As a straight wine or possibly a desert wine this bottle has great potential.
Crisp and clean, medium body, Chardonnay like
Nose of honeysuckle, light frame. Very spicy overtones and dried apricot with citrus peel flavors. Has an interesting "zing", but a bit too spicy overall on the finish for me to be really enjoyable. Generally alright. - Tasted at Marché Bacchus 12/12/09

Displays opulent golden-straw hue and intense aromatic qualities. Aromas of honeysuckle, pineapple, Meyer lemon and orange oil meld with notes of wet stones. The soft entry unfolds into rich flavors of blood orange, peaches, sweet cream and subtle hints of dried herbs and finely ground white pepper. The long, well-balanced finish is matched by a satisfying acidity that leaves the palate thirsty for its next sip.
Treana White is a blend of 55% Viognier and 45% Marsanne. These two varieties, indigenous to the Rhone Valley in France, flourish in California's Central California white Rhone blends with the release of the 1996 Treana White. The majority of the fruit in this blend is from Santa Lucia Highlands, which benefits from the cooling breezes coming off of Monterey Bay. The 2008 Treana White's color is reminiscent of the golden hillsides of the California Central Coast at harvest time. A beautiful bouquet of peaches and lime is bolstrered by aromatic notes of honeysuckle. Full in body and rich in flavor, the wine invigorates the palate with dried apricot, pineapple, subtle citrus flaovrs and notes of honey, which continue through a long finish.

From the northernmost vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands, this Rhocirc;ne white is a fantastically interesting wine. Complex and compelling, with brilliant fruit flavors spanning the range from apricots and limes to peaches and guava. All this juicy flavor is boosted by bright and beautiful acidity. A blend of 61% Viognier and 39% Marsanne.
Wine Tasting NotesTreana White is a 34% / 66% blend of Marsanne and Viognier, two white Rhne varietals that thrive in California's Central Coast. All of the fruit is purchased from the Mer Soleil Vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands, just south of Monterey Bay. The marriage of these two varietals highlights the tropical notes found in both grapes, and gives the wine a lush, cohesive palate of exciting flavors.
Treana White is inspired by the great white wines of France’s Rhône region. A blend of 53% Viognier (the star of the northern Rhône) and 47% Marsanne (the workhorse of the southern Rhône). The grapes come from the Santa Lucia Highlands in Monterey County, from the notable Mer Soleil Vineyard. The cool climate allows for an exceptionally long growing season. The grapes are whole-cluster pressed, Champagne style, to maximize fruit flavors and minimize harsh skin influences. After two days of settling, the juice goes into French oak barrels, 20%-30% new, for fermentation; another small percentage is fermented in tank to accentuate freshness when blending time comes around. Routinely scoring 90+ points from the critics, this is a lush, mouth-filling, ageworthy white.
