Treana Red 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

"The goal of Treana Red is to deliver, vintage after vintage, the best Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine in Paso Robles. Blended with Syrah for a complete, mouth-filling experience, our Treana Red is crafted to keep company with any wine from any region at any price point on the world stage. The wine starts with the most promising lots from some of the best vineyards in Paso Robles—as many as eight vineyard sources make it to the final blend, enriching the sum of the parts. The result is a wine somewhere between Napa and Bordeaux, a full-throated, luxurious wine but one with finesse as well. “We walk the fine line all California winemakers walk,” says winemaker Austin Hope, “aiming for wine that’s not over the top, not all lushness, but with some grace and elegance.” -Winery

Treana White is an equal blend of Viognier and Marsanne. These two varieties, indigenous to the Rhône Valley in France, prosper in California’s Central Coast. The Hope family helped pioneer the now-thriving category of California white Rhône blends over the past 15 vintages. The majority of the fruit in this blend is from the Santa Lucia Highlands, which benefits from the cooling breezes coming off of Monterey Bay. 50% Marsanne and 50% Viognier. All but 5% of the wine is barrel fermented in French oak and then aged on the lies for 9 months. The 2011 Treana White is pale golden straw in color and exhibits vibrant aromatics. A bold bouquet of stone fruit and white flowers are followed by hints of honey and nutty notes of pecan and almond. On the palate, rich flavors of melon, peach and honey follow with an oily mid-palate, and a bright finish. Due in part to the ageability of Marsanne, Treana White has a trusted history of aging 10+ years. A bold and distinctive white wine, On Sale!
