Treana Cabernet-Syrah Blend Paso Robles Red 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

At harvest, vineyard lots were fermented separately then barreled down in 100% French oak from a variety of coopers. 65% of the barrels were new. After crafting the blend, the 2005 Treana Red was aged 14 months in barrel and racked only twice during its cellar life.

wonderfully complex, yet unified flavor. currant, pepper, oak, chocolate. balanced throughout, long on the tongue, fabulous finish. from the moment it's opened to the last drop it retains its tone and pitch. wow.

Tasting Notes:

The 2005 vintage of Treana Red has a deeply extracted, ruby hue and displays up-front flavors of ripe, dark fruit and exotic spice. Rich, explosive flavors of mulberry and plum are complemented by enticing mocha, tobacco and toasted oak notes. Depth and power come from Cabernet, while a Syrah component lends inviting fleshiness. The wine's full mouthfeel leads to a silky, lasting finish. Luxurious and well balanced now, the 2005 Treana Red will continue to increase in nuance and elegance over the next 10-12 years.
