Bright cherry and pepper are prominent in this Southern Italian red. Similar to a red Zinfandel or Shiraz, the Tratturi makes an excellent match for burgers, ribs or other grilled dishes.

The 2011 Primitivo bursts from the glass with racy dark berries, flowers, licorice and leather. Layers of sweet, perfumed Primitivo fruit flow through to the spiced, resonant finish. The unoaked style lets varietal notes come through nicely in this budget-friendly, tasty Primitivo. Anticipated maturity: 2013–2014.
