Trapiche Malbec Oak Cask 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

Beautiful, intense red color with violet hues. Sweet aromas of blackberries and plums. Elegant touch of smoke and vanilla. Velvety texture and a sweet, long aftertaste. Food pairing: Ideal to serve with cheeses, red meats, mushrooms, stew and with the typical Argentinian asado.

The Trapiche team was immensely proud to receive the Trophy for the "Argentinian Wine Producer of the Year 2006", awarded by a jury of wine experts on October 31st in London. When the IWSC, one of the most prestigious wine competitions in the world, created the trophy for "Argentinian wine producer of the year" in 2004, Trapiche was the first winery ever to receive it. The trophy was created because of the growing importance of the Argentina category within the industry; P&O Nedlloyd Logistics is the official sponsor. History repeats itself. Being awarded the trophy again is the proof that Trapiche is paving the way in Argentina´s wine industry, both in terms of quality and innovation. The winner is designated on the basis of its general performance at the IWSC 2006 and Trapiche won the only Gold Medal for an Argentinian wine with Medalla 2003. According to the competition officials, "Each year, the International Wine and Spirit Competition commends the achievements of those members of the wine and spirit trade who make an outstanding contribution to the industry. These individuals or companies set the standards of excellence for the rest of the industry to follow and influence the quality, variety, value, and educational information available to the wine and spirit consumer." Undoubtedly this trophy consolidates Trapiche´s leadership in the Argentinian wine industry. Read less

My first Malbec. Will be trying some more. Dark fruit, real earthy, very nice balance.

Deep red, dark and lush. Spends 12 months in oak barrels and it "shows". Hints of cherries, lush berries, a ton of vanilla and a nice medium-long finish. A good everyday drinking wine.

Yellow color with green hues. Toasted bread and applepie aromas, typical fragrances of the variety combinedwith the elegance of the oak. Round wine with goodacidity.
