Winemakers Notes

Located in Mendoza (Argentinas most important and presitigious growing area), Trapiche is simultaneously a historic and thoroughly modern winery. The hand-harvested grapes for the Malbec Oak Cask are sourced from the best parcels in Trapiches high-altitude Finca 1883 and Finca Las Palmas vineyards. Before bottling, the wine is aged in French and American barrels for 12 months, endowing the Malbec with a graceful, integrated touch of oak. Very Good. Best value. Memorable black-tar nose, with some charred wood. Rich, black wine with good minerals. Fresh and lively despite its weight, with big, bright fruit.

Initial impression: solid chocolate and plum nose. Nice burgundy coloring. Light tannins, flavors of plum and cherry, though I had to resort to the back of the bottle to identify the cherry. Very lightly lingers on the tongue for several minutes. Nice.

This wine has some nice flavor profiles, but was just not smooth enough or big enough for me to rate it higher than (3). It's almost a (3.5).

This malbec has an intense ruby red color with violet tones.

It has aromas of ripe fruit with a hint of pepper.

Sweet, fresh and full in the mouth, followed by soft, gentle tannins. A lively wine with good acidity, juicy red fruits and fine minerals.
