Say what you want about wine that comes in a big bottle – this malbec from Trapiche, with grapes from vineyards spread across the Cuyo region (La Rioja, Mendoza, San Juan, and San Luis), delivers the basics and does it well. The wine is on the lighter side, but fresh blackberry and blueberry flavors mingle in the mouth, followed by a velvety finish where notes of vanilla and maple surface. You could hardly do better for the price per ounce. (AV 88, http://argovino.com/?p=1043)
