Tramin Pinot Bianco Alto Adige Sudtirol 2012

Winemaker's Notes:

Zeigt die charakteristischen Züge eines kühlen Jahres mit strohgrünlichem Farbton sowie Aromen von frischen Gräsern und mit Aromen von reifen Mangos und Pfirsichen.

Alto Adige is the northern part of the Trentino-Alto Adige region of Italy that borders the Austrian Tyrol. It was ceded to Italy only after the First World War. This region owes its Italian name of "Alto-Adige" to the river Adige that flows through on its way to the Adriatic. The sleepy village of Termeno/Tramin is thought to be the birthplace of the Traminer white grape variety, also known as Gewurztraminer. In 2004 Will Strz, the winemaker at Tramin, was nominated "Italian winemaker of the Year" by the prestigious Gambero Rosso and makes some of the best white wines in Italy. Tramin proudly holds the "Stella", the star awarded to a winery for achieving the prestigious "3 Bicchieri" 10 times. Vintage: 2009 Grapes: Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Sauvignon and Riesling grapes from hillside vines around the villages of Ora, Egna and Termeno (Tramin) Harvest: By hand Yield: 85HL per hectare Winemaking: The grapes were softly pressed immediately upon arrival at the winery. Fermentation took place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. No malolactic fermentation took place. The wine was left to rest in stainless steel vats until bottled. Colour: Pale with green tinges. Taste: Fresh and fruity with a bouquet of blossom, nutmeg and tropical fruit in the background. An easy drinking and enjoyable glass of wine with a slight aromatic edge on the finish
