Tourelles Longueville Pichon Pauillac 2011
"Very pretty aromas of currants and blueberries with hints of flowers. Full body with silky tannins and a fruity finish. Refined. Very polished tannins...92-93" JS 04/12 "This has muscle, but is fleshy and almost creamy along the edges, with a very dense core of plum, blackberry and cassis waiting in reserve. A sleek iron edge cruises in on the finish and adds some serious length...92-95" WS 04/12 "This splendid Pauillac estate’s 2011 exhibits an impressively saturated ruby/purple color as well as notes of spring flowers interwoven with creme de cassis, licorice and background incense and toasty oak. The tannins are firm and the wine is medium-bodied and rich with layers of fruit and extract as well as a long finish. An outstanding example of the vintage, it will need 3-4 years of cellaring and should drink well for 15-20 years...90-92+" WA 04/12

Pauillac is probably the most famous village in Bordeaux. Located between St. Julien and St. Estephe, it has more of the top ranked chateau than the other four appellations of the Haut Medoc. Because of the gravely soils and great drainage, Pauillac has the ideal conditions to grow great Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines from this village are some of the longest-lived in Bordeaux. The harmony and variety of the grapes of Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is unique in the Pauillac appellation. It is without doubt the proportion of grape varieties that endows the wine with such longevity and such an exceptional character, without the slightest hint of hardness. Grapes: 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 8% Petit Verdot Notes: A dark red colour and expressive nose of red berries and Tangerines. Full bodied, mellow and fleshy, with a compact texture, strength and breed. Cellar: Can be enjoyed now, or like many great Bordeauxs, for many years to come!
