Tour St Christophe 94js Premier 2014

Winemaker's Notes:

94 Points, James Suckling: "Fantastic aromas of blackberries, flowers, chalk and blueberries. Medium to full body, firm and silky tannins and a flavorful finish. Intense and structured. Give it two or three years to soften." 2/17 93 Points, Zachys Buying Team: “We had this wine side-by-side with the 2015 release for a great comparison. While the 2015 is a riper more modern vintage, 2014 is more classic, offering a little less texture and richness, but awesome elegance just the same. There are greater aromatics here, and on the palate a similar red and black fruit profile that is presented in a slightly more toned down style with additional notes of licorice and mocha. We managed to obtain a few extra cases from the Chateau for those that do not want to wait to experience the magic of Saint-Christophe.” 4/16 93 Points, Neal Martin, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Tour Saint-Christophe comes from Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, the lieu-dit Cassevert, where proprietor Peter Kwok has built some quite startling terraces on the slope to improve the terroir (apparently recruited from Spain as only they possess the technical know-how). My, what a Saint Emilion this is. It has a very well-defined bouquet with crisp, pure mineral-rich red and black fruit. I like the focus here; there is an intention to perform at the top level that comes through where it matters—in the glass. The palate is silky smooth with a fine line of acidity, layers of red cherry and blueberry fruit, leading to a detailed and very satisfying, long finish. This 2014 serves notice of a new, bright kid on the block." 3/17 91 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous: "The 2014 Tour Saint-Christophe is powerful, deep and intense, just as it was from bottle. Readers should expect an opulent, voluptuous Saint-Émilion built on textural richness. Dark cherry, mocha, licorice and spice infuse the expressive finish. Tour Saint-Christophe continues to move in the right direction under the leadership of Peter Kwok. The blend is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc." 2/17
