Torres is one of the world’s most recognizable brands of Spanish wine and is 100% family owned. The company was founded by Jaime and Miguel Torres in 1870, and is now overseen by 4th generation wine producer Miguel Angel Torres. The headquarters of the winery is in Vilafranca del Penèdes in Catalonia, although the family controls several wineries throughout Spain as well as Chile and California. The wines range from entry level premiums, such as Sangre de Toro (the one with the little bull charm on its neck), to quality-driven mid and higher priced ranges, as well as dessert wines and brandies.
A large percentage of the Torres vineyards are organic and sustainable, with efforts to increase those numbers. They also contribute to wildlife conservation efforts with a fund to protect the Bonelli's Eagle in Catalonia and the Condor in Chile. Read less
