Rated 90
I'm a fan of Antinori's Puglia estate and the work that enologist Renzo Cotarella does with the region's native varieties. These wines deliver power and aromatic intensity without losing their delicate balance between fruit and tobacco. The wine also shows a nice evolution in the glass with rose petal and vanilla not far behind. Drink now.
What to Expect
"Black and bitter" in Italian, not surprisingly Negroamaro has origins in the Southern Italy's Puglia region and is an important grape both on its own and as a blending grape. It contributes a rich, slightly rustic mouthfeel to a finished wine imbued with a slightly burnt, earthy quality that accentuates deep, roasted plum and mocha toned fruit.

Rating: 83.7/100 - As reviewed by Int'l Wine & Spirits Comp. on 11/01/06. Black crimson colour. The nose is concentrated, ripe fruits with savoury oak and leathery complexity. Big oaky grip in the mouth, very firm tannins and a fine long sweet fruit finish. Needs a bit more time to knit.
