Torii Mor Pinot Noir Dundee Hills la Colina 2010

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Slightly candied on the nose with nice blackberry fruit accented by violette pastille, charred wood tones, and freshly turned soil notes. Silky and soft in the mouth with nice balanced structural elements concealed by ripe red fruits that have a slight coulis quality to them. the mid-palate is nicely layered with notes of woodspice, mocha and nutmeg adding some detail. The finish is a bit heavy and shows more pumpkin pie spice. this has a lot of dense fruit to it that emerges as it sits in the glass, along with a noticeably spicy character that may be more appealing to many others than it is to me. 88pts

Nice cherry fruit, with some of that Oregon earthiness I enjoy. Somewhat bitter however. Needs more time to integrate I think.

This is some of the best '06 Pinot I've had. As they described it as "their bread and butter"... I know why!

Bright fruit, good acidity and mellow tannins. Cherry and cranberry bring a nice pucker to the mouth, yet a richness comes through with a finish of minerality that is not unpleasant. Clove, nutmeg and autumn spice in the nose provides ample anticipation but the structure always leaves you wanting more which is great in showbiz but not so much in a wine review. Don't expect a huge California Pinot Noir such as Bien Nacido or Russian River. Oregon tends to be more Burgundian with Pinot Noir but this stands out because of their respect for terroir and limited production.

slightly better than 2004. Excellent wine for the price.
