Torii Mor Pinot Gris Willamette Valley Reserve 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Our Dundee Hills Reserve Pinot Gris was whole-cluster pressed and fermented in neutral 132 gallon oak puncheons and 60 gallon oak barrels. The juice was inoculated with three yeast strains (D47, GRE, W27), selected to accentuate ripe fruit flavors and provide richness of mouth-feel. The wine aged on lees without malolactic fermentation for three months with limited batonnage (stirring). The wine was then racked, blended and returned to puncheons for another 3 months before cold stabilization, filtration and bottling in July 2010.

Tasting Notes:

Torii Mor’s 2009 Dundee Hills Reserve Pinot Gris has an aroma that begins with ripe Anjou pears, followed by floral notes of light vanilla (baby powder) and honeysuckle. The flavors show a mellow acidity with a sweet entry and a rich floral aroma. The ripe pear flavor co-mingles with floral notes and a pinch of green herbs to bring the taste to a long, lingering and lightly spicy finish. The wine texture is sweet, oily, rich and round with a long finish of lasting spice and fruit.
