Tommasi 'Ripasso' Valpolicella 2015

Editorial Review by Snooth Editorial:

Herbal strawberry and basil aromas with tomato leaf notes of dusty earth, floral spice and black pepper. On the palate the fruit is more expressive, cherry and cranberry fruit coming through though still herbal, this shows a bit of clay and more drying earth towards the finish before rounding off some of the dark berry fruit with oak spice and a creamy texture.

Pepper, leather, dried blue flowers, and a hint of grilled meats frame subtle fruit on the nose. With a hint of sweetness on entry, this turns immediately round and generous in the mouth. Silky, though with some weight to the polished black cherry fruit on the palate that shows flashes of mint and spice leading to a lightly spiced, baked cherry and dried plum finish which has notable persistence. 88pts

Dark and brooding in its black cherries, earthiness, herbs and spices. This medium to full-bodied ripasso Valpolicella offers good length and balance in powerful style.
