Tolosa Winery Pinot Noir Central Coast 2005
2005 "1772" Select Pinot Noir Varietal Composition: 100% Edna Ranch Pinot Noir Appellation: Edna Valley Production: 1075 six-bottle cases Vineyard Information In 2005, our final blend selection included approximately 1/3 each of the Pinot Noir clones Dijon 115, 667 and Pommard from older, consistently excellent hillside vineyard blocks. The cool, even ripening weather in 2005 allowed good development of the fruit under ideal conditions, producing classically structured wines with balanced elements of acidity, ripeness, and texture. Winemaking & Cellar Information The "1772" Pinot Noir is a wine that speaks to us distinctively each vintage. Through several sessions of cellar evaluations, twenty-two French Oak barrels were chosen. There are no constraints as to how many cases we must produce; these select barrels are assembled to create an extraordinary offering of outstanding quality. The 2005 vintage reveals a silky texture, perfume aromas and fruit richness in its early life and bodes very well for its ability to develop over several years. Analytical Information Alcohol: 14.2 % T.A. 5.48 g/L pH: 3.65 Brix at Harvest: 24.6 Tasting Notes Aromatically complex and layered with concentrated cherry and orange peel essence, with notes of sandalwood and white clover. The flavors and textures are classic, with a well structured entrance, expressive fruit mid-palate and a prolonged finish.

Dark ruby color, with interlaced aromas of strawberry jam and dry cherry, cinnamon, coffee, and nougat. Sweet and ripe on the palate, with balanced tannins. Spice and earth flavors complement the smoky oak notes. This year's "1772"
Wine Enthusiast ReviewShows the delicacy and finesse of the finest Pinot Noirs of this vintage, and is a solid expression of this always fine bottling, although lacking a shade of the opulence of the '04. With cola, cherry, licorice, pine, cinnamon and vanilla oak flavors, it's a complex, satisfying wine that will marry well with steak and grilled salmon.Wine Tasting NotesAromatically complex and layered with concentrated cherry and orange peel essence, with notes of sandalwood and white clover. The flavors and textures are classic, with a well structured entrance, expressive fruit mid-palate and a prolonged finish.
