Tolosa Syrah Estate Tolosa Vineyards Edna Valley 2009

Member Review by EMark:

"Spicy" nose--pepper, cinnamon and, maybe even mint. Medium-bodied and quite fruity on introduction to the palate. No spiciness from the nose Some cherries and "sweetness,",but then the sweetness yields to nice acid tartness. US$28.20 at the Winery in San Luis Obispo last December.

Wine Tasting NotesAromatically complex and layered with concentrated cherry and orange peel essence, with notes of sandalwood and white clover. The flavors and textures are classic, with a well structured entrance, expressive fruit mid-palate and a prolonged finish.

Wine Enthusiast ReviewTastes rich and young right now, with jammy blackberry, cherry, licorice and pepper flavors that have been well-oaked, and that crisp Edna Valley acidity that makes the fruit shine. There's enough complexity in the texture and finish to make it feel important. Should hold for a couple of years, but it's not an ager.Wine Tasting NotesThis deeply colored gem opens with smoky notes underlain with a complex and seamless perfume, which has notes of blackberry bramble, cocoa, and lavender. On the palate the integrity introduced by the aroma expresses itself in medium structure with dynamic tannins, sweet fruit and vanilla notes. Very high levels of vinosity are the sure hallmark of a reserve wine, this is only achieved by the most stringent lot and barrel selection, which makes our 1772 series.
