2001 state Grown TOLOSA ChardonnayVarietal Composition: 100% Edna Ranch ChardonnayAppellation: Edna ValleyProduction: 880 casesVineyard InformationExcluding several days in the high nineties, the harvest weather for 2001 was milder than the two previous years. Grape "set" cluster size were particularly small leading to wines possessing assertive intensity.Winemaking & Cellar InformationThe grapes were whole-cluster pressed, followed by a 24-hour cold settling period andracked into 60 gallon french oak barrels (30% new). Each barrel was then individually inoculated with natural wine yeast. Following fermentation, the barrels were stirred twice weekly for a period of 12 weeks to encourage the development of complex aroma, flavor, and texture. Analytical InformationAlcohol: 14.1%T.A.: 6.98 g/LpH: 3.43Brix at harvest: 24.4Winemaker Notes Combined aromas of citus blossom and honey-spiced pear. Flavors compliment the aromatics along with pleasing minerality. The texture is supple with a bright and cleansing finish. Library NotesButternut squash with spice and a rich mouthfeel.
